2024 Safety course - Stop the Bleed offered at the EOSC facility.
What is Stop the Bleed®?
Do you have bleeding emergency? What can you do? Stop the Bleed® is a national awareness campaign and a provincial call to action that aims to train citizens how to stop a person from bleeding to death. Loss of life from severe blood loss can happen in as little as 4-5 minutes so it is critical to control bleeding as soon as possible.
Created to save lives
Stop the Bleed® was initiated by the American College of Surgeons in 2015 in response to the active shooter disaster at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Their goal was to create an initiative that will improve survival of mass casualty events.
Trauma Services believe this is a provincial responsibility to ensure that first responders and the public have the education that they need to do their part. The goal is training the public, who then in turn train others. Supported by Heart and Stroke Canada.
You will be confident applying a Tourniquet, Israeli dressing, and quick clot gauze.
Held in the Clubhouse. How long? 1.5 hrs

Qu’est-ce que le cours « Stop the Bleed® » ?
Avez-vous une hémorragique ? Que pouvez-vous faire ? « Stop the Bleed® » est une campagne nationale de sensibilisation et un appel à l'action provinciale qui vise à former les citoyens sur la manière d'empêcher une personne de se vider de son sang. La mort suite à une perte de sang grave peut survenir en seulement 4 à 5 minutes. Il est donc essentiel de contrôler les saignements le plus rapidement possible.

« Stop the Bleed® » a été lancé par « L'American College of Surgeons » en 2015 en réponse au désastre d'un tireur actif à l'école primaire Sandy Hook à Newtown, Connecticut. Leur objectif était de créer une initiative qui améliorerait la survie lors d’événements faisant de nombreuses victimes.
Les services de traumatologie estiment qu'il incombe à la province de veiller à ce que les premiers intervenants et le public reçoivent l'éducation dont ils ont besoin pour faire leur part. L’objectif est de former le public, qui à son tour en forme d’autres. Soutenu par l’organisme « Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l'AVC du Canada ».
Vous serez en confiance en appliquant un garrot, un pansement israélien et une gaze à caillot rapide.
Aura lieu au Clubhouse. Combien de temps ? 1h30.
